Introduction of Anwarul Islam Trust (Islamic Studies Department)
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ العلَمِیْنَ، وَالصَّلاةُ وَالسَّلامُ عَلی شَمْسِ الهِدَایَةِ وَالْیَقِینِ، وَعَلی آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ أَجْمَعِینَ، أَمَّابَعدُ.
Islamic Studies Department:
The main objective and goal of this institute is to impart Islamic Knowledge, to create awareness about Islam and Islamic Values and to promote Islamic culture and civilisation among the enrolled pupils. From the very beginning, the school has full-fledged Islamic Studies Department which is known as “Anwarul Islam Trust”. From the Nursery to Secondary, all the Muslim pupils attend the periods of Islamic Studies. This department helps to teach the pupils the true Islamic Knowledge of Islam as well as accurate understanding of Deen in the light of the Glorious Quraan and Holy Hadeeth including good character, excellent behavior and equip them with high-quality manner.
Teaching the Holy Qrua’an:
In the early morning, as the pupils reach the school at 06:30, they start their learning prgrammes with morning assembly. Under the supervision of the teachers of Islamic Studies, one pupil recites some Aayaat (verses) of the Holy Quraan and other pupils follow him. In the same fashion, they do Kalimah, Tashahhud, Durood, Duaae Qunoot and other Duaas as well. It takes 15 minutes. The period for the Qaadiah/Juz Amm/the Holy Qura’an starts following the Assembly. It continues till 08:00. In brief, for the assembly and teaching the Holy Qura’an, one hour and thirty minutes has been allocated per day.
Islamic Studies:
Two periods, in each grade, have been allocated every day for teaching Islamic studies. The Subjects which are taught are mentioned below.
Subjects Taught:
- Qaaidah/Juz Amm/The Holy Quraan,
- Tajweed,
- Aqaaid (Beliefs),
- Hadeeth,
- Seerah (Biography of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Aleihi Wa Sallam),
- Fiqh (Jurisprudence),
- Aqaaid (Beliefs)
- Taarikh (Islamic History)
- Aadaab (Manners) and
- Duaa (Supplications).
The Curriculum:
In the Primary School, we teach the complete curriculum of “Al-Nasihah Series”, a well-known syllabus in the UK for the basic knowledge of Islamic Studies prepared by a team of qualified Ulama. It contains the subjects such as Fiqh, Aqaaid, Seerah, Tarikh, Hadeeth, Akhlaq, Aadaab etc.
As for the Secondary Section, we follow almost the same syllabus of the Lusaka based famous Islamic School, “LIECF” as it is much beneficial for the pupils of the secondary level. The subjects taught are noted here in details according to the section.
Secondary Section (Grade: 08-12):
- The Holy Qur’an Nazra (Naazirah/ Hifz),
- Memorization of Juzz Amm,
- Tajweed (Grade 5 to 12),
- Fiqh (Topics like: Ibaadaat, Muamalaat, Meerath, Contemporary Masail and Nikaah and Talaaq),
- Aqaaid,
- Civilization of Virtues,
- Duaas (Supplications).
Primary Section (Grade: 1-7):
- Qaa’ida / Juzz Amm / Nazra Qur’an,
- Fiqh,
- Aqaaid,
- Seerah,
- Tarikh,
- Hadeeth,
- Akhlaq,
- Aadaab,
- Duaas.
Nursery Section:
- Qaaidah (Introduction of Mufradaat and Murakkabaat) and
- Very basic knowledge of Islamic Studies .
Daily Learning Programme
Grade: 05 to Grade: 12 (Secondary Section):
- Assembly for Islamic Studies (06:30-06:45)
- Teaching The Holy Quraan (Naazirah / Hifz) (06:45-08:00)
- The first period of Islamic Studies (08:00-08:40)
- The Second period of Islamic Studies (08:40-09:20)
Following Islamic Studies progrqmme, there is a break for 10 minutes. Then academic progamme starts. It continues till 12:00 hours. Then there is a break for Zuhr Salaah and Lunch. Following lunch, again the Academic classes resume and continue till 15:40 hours.
Grade: 01 to 04 (Lower Primary Section):
Lower Primary Section starts with Academic programme. Following the academic programmes, the Islamic Studies programmes start. It is as being mentioned here:
- Assembly for Islamic Studies (09:50-10:00)
- Teaching Qaaidah/Juz Amm / The Holy Quraan (10:00-11:10)
- The first period of Islamic Studies (11:10-11:35)
- The Second period of Islamic Studies (11:35-12:00)
Other Activities:
1) IK prep after Maghrib Salah under the supervision of teachers.
2) Monitoring pupils’ behavior.
3) Qur’an Competition.
4) IK competition.
5) Seerah Quiz.
6) Taleem of Fazail Amaal or any otherwise.
7) Workshops for teachers.
8) Tarbiyya programs.
9) Bayaan and Khutba.
10) Dawat wa Tableegh (Some teachers of Islamic Studies and some pupils from the secondary section go for 24 hours Jama’at in the neighbouring areas.).
Statistics (2023):
- It is well-known to us that the teachers are the necessary and basic part of the teaching and learning process. Without a teacher, even a step can’t be preceded. Presently, there are 17 teachers in Islamic Studies Department.
- Total Number of the pupils in Nursery: 98 (Boys: 49 & Girls: 49)
- Total Number of the pupils in Primary: 304 (Boys: 132 & Girls: 202)
- Total Number of the pupils in the Secondary: 235 (Boys: 115 & Girls: 120)
- Grand Total (Nursery to Grade: 12): 667
- Total Boarders: 166 (Boys: 76 & Girls 90)
- Total Day Scholars: 501 (Boys: 220 & Girls: 281)
Conclusion:
In the above paragraphs, the activities of Anwarul Islam Trust such as curriculum, subjects which are taught, daily learning programmes, current statistics etc. have been introduced briefly.
